1. Acceptance
By accessing the Fight Forensics website or its data API (the "Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The service
Fight Forensics provides a free, read-only JSON API and website presenting a compiled record of professional mixed martial arts. The Service is provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis. We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of it (including endpoints, rate limits, and these terms) at any time.
3. Data, accuracy & attribution
- The data is compiled from public MMA records and describes the fighters, bouts and events we have on record, not the sport in full. It may contain errors, gaps or omissions.
- Rankings (career Elo) are a computed statistical model presented as analysis, not official standings or fact.
- If you use the data, you must attribute "Fight Forensics (fightforensics.com)" and, where practical, link back.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the API to build applications, research and features that add value. You must not:
- Attempt to circumvent, evade or overwhelm the rate limits, including rotating IP addresses or accounts, or minting multiple API keys, to exceed the limits set out below.
- Perform bulk extraction, scraping or systematic downloading of the dataset, or reproduce, redistribute or resell the compiled dataset (in whole or in substantial part) as a standalone or competing product.
- Use the data or Service to train, fine-tune or build machine-learning models (this is declined in our robots.txt content-signal policy).
- Interfere with, disrupt, probe, or place undue load on the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
- Misrepresent the data as official, or remove attribution.
5. Rate limits & API keys
- Keyless: up to 30 requests/minute and 500 requests/day per IP address.
- Free API key (sent in the
X-Api-Keyheader): up to 120 requests/minute and 5,000 requests/day. - Deep pagination is capped; use filters rather than walking the full dataset.
- Keys are issued free of charge and may be rate-limited, suspended or revoked at any time, particularly where abuse or a breach of these terms is detected. Requests are logged (a salted, non-reversible client hash; no raw IP is stored) for abuse detection and usage analytics.
6. No warranty
The Service and data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. You use the Service and rely on the data at your own risk. Nothing here should be relied upon for betting, financial or other consequential decisions.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fight Forensics shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or data.
8. Intellectual property
Factual data (results, dates, names) is presented as a compiled reference. The site's design, original presentation and the compiled dataset are © Fight Forensics. Trademarks (e.g. promotion names and logos) belong to their respective holders and are used for identification only.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
